Watermist

Finally finished! I might go back to this and add colored shading... But for now I'm going to be content with my black colored pencil shading. I've spent a long time on this... If I do come back to this, I'll also scan it, so that it looks pretty. ^^

Watermist is based off of my sister's shelter cat, Emory. If you want to see pictures of her, go to my scraps. ^^

Anyway, welcome to the world of the drawn characters, Watermist! She's a character in StarClanCats and I am so excited about having her now that I understand her personality. ^^

She is, as I describe her, a soft, grey tabby with green eyes and a light undercoat. I really have no other way to describe it. Emory has so many stripes, that you really can't half the time tell them a part, it's almost just like a smooth progression, so yeah.

Watermist is a hard-working warrior with really no values other than that. She cares not about lineage or even ability as long as the cat in question is trying their best. Of course, this attitude also earned her mentorship of one of the most difficult apprentices in RiverClan, Jackdawpaw. While Watermist sees her apprentice's potential and skill, she often has the hardest time just making sure he actually COMES to training. He is often side-tracked by his brother's lax attitude and goes on adventures or pulls pranks instead of coming to training and fulfilling his chores. Watermist feels as though she is at the end of her tail with this guy, but won't give up. Because she's stubborn. Like, SUPER stubborn. It doesn't help the case much when Jackdawpaw is the son of Darksky, the most bold adventurer and slacker of the clan, who died for it. Watermist both sympathizes with Jackdawpaw over this and feels some disgust for him. His slacking just makes her think he's going to turn out like his father that she viewed as good for nothing, but she also knows what its like to lose a parent.

Watermist enjoys the company of her sister, Turtlebrook, the most out of anyone in her clan. The hard-working warrior has yet to find a mate and is too preoccupied by her duties and Jackdawpaw's slacking to even care. She despises small talk, and would much rather talk about pertinent events and have a deep discussion than just chat about weather and pretty shells. If someone doesn't have anything meaningful to say when they start a conversation, she tends to quickly leave. Regardless of this fact, Watermist is very well respected in RiverClan and trusted by Ripplestar and Greypelt to do whatever they ask of her and more.

She and Turtlebrook were both the last litter and the only kits of Greysquall and Frozenfur. Their parents told them they had tried before, but lost the litters early in kithood, if not by birth. The two were so proud of their daughters, their survivors. Greysquall retired early in their kithood, leaving himself free to tell them stories and play with them without being too worn down by his warrior duties that he had stubbornly kept up. Right after the sisters became apprentices, both training to be warriors at the time, Frozenfur retired to the elders’ den, too. The sisters would bring their parents fresh-kill and help them. They could think of no better life. They were able to spend time with their parents each day while training as hard as they could, just as Greysquall and Frozenfur once did, too. Their death was sudden and a shock to the sisters. They were both peacefully sleeping, side by side, and then they simply… died. Old age, Lakeshimmer told them, was one of the few things no medicine cat could cure.

Unfortunately for Turtlebrook, it turned out she had hip problems. No one in the clan actually calls it that, but they know she has weak hindquarters and thus cannot fight or hunt efficiently or even jump up and down from places well. Since most of RiverClan is made of cliffs and tumbling rocks, this tends to pose a problem, but she can swim just fine and can come to gatherings. Watermist tried for a long time to help her sister what she thought was just a rough spot. Instead, she almost got her killed and Turtlebrook was transferred to a medicine cat apprenticeship not too long after Greysquall and Frozenfur died. Watermist still harbors some guilt about these events while Turtlebrook tends to envy her sister even though she is a successful and wise medicine cat.

So yeah, that's Watermist in a jumbled up description. Read the story for something cleaner. XP
