When the Storms Pass

ShadowClan has gone through a horrible famine, leaving their clan with very low numbers. With the storms passed from the greenleaf and the clans approaching a semblance of peace, the family is able to relax and play together.

Briarfoot and Pinelegs are recent mates; their first litter has been strong and healthy, and greenleaf has brought new prey, so they decide to have another litter quickly after Oakpaw and Shalepaw become apprentices. This is the whole family together when the second litter is 4 moons old. I edited Briarfoot's design a little to include his mother's curled ears so we could have fun with genetics and make three more curl eared cats! CaptainMorwen designed the calico and the white with grey stripes kits.

This is also the first inside look at the camp! The left cave is to the medicine cat den, the one to the right is the nursery. ^^ This was a huge practice for me on backgrounds... I really struggled with the sedge and then with the granite. There are so many kinds of granite! Eventually I settled on what could be thought of as either Pikes Peak granite or european Shap granite. The sedge is undoubtedly european grey sedge, aka berkley sedge. And I hate it now. Anyway, this is a favorite hangout and kit play area for the high rocks to relax on and the soft sedge to land on. There is a similar and somewhat bigger rock near the apprentices' den.

On the far left is Pinelegs, the proud mother. I edited her design here too because in the headshots I actually messed up while coloring and couldn't fix it. The little light brown next to her is Sedgekit: chocolate spotted tabby with green eyes. Sedgekit plays with her older sister Shalepaw, batting at her ear. Above them is Cavekit; he's a charcoal bengal with red undertones, a bright red muzzle tip, and green eyes. He's the only one of his litter with straight ears. He's a bit of an observer, but he's probably wondering when the right time to join in is. Next to him is Oakpaw, whose tail is being merciless attacked by his bold and kind younger sister Marshkit, a white she-cat with grey spots and stripes and yellow eyes. In front of Marshkit is Granitekit, a cinnamon tortoiseshell with that Starkpath red to add to it. She has a lot of white and pretty blue eyes. Briarfoot puts a paw on Granitekit as they both watch happily and he laughs.

Marshkit the oldest, she is very outgoing, and sweet but bold. She's a nice mixture between her two older siblings.
Granitekit she is shy and meek. She will be good at training, but she is humble about it and thinks she could always be better.
Cavekit he is quieter than Shalepaw and Oakpaw but still just as charismatic. He has a knack for jumping in with the right words or action to make the group laugh.
Sedgekit she is outgoing, but lacks the social skills of her siblings. She trips over her words and often just flat out trips. No one can deny she has heart and drive, though.
